Description & Requirements
World Relief is recruiting a Global Safety and Security Manager to support the safety and continuity of its operations across a diverse and growing international and US-based programme portfolio.
This is a hands-on role supporting both international teams (80%) and US offices (20%). It spans policy development, field support, risk assessments, crisis response, incident management, training, and access strategy. The postholder will work across 11 countries and more than 20 US locations.
What stands out
World Relief has designed this role with an emphasis on practical support, mentoring, and context-driven systems. The expectation is not only to shape strategy, but to deploy when needed, problem-solve in real time, and support teams directly as they navigate access and security challenges.
World Relief currently operates in Burundi, Cambodia, Chad, DR Congo, Haiti, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, South Sudan, Sudan and Ukraine. The postholder will be responsible for supporting teams across these contexts, many of which are complex, fragile or high-risk.
World Relief is a Christian organisation. Its faith identity is central to how it hires, operates, and makes decisions. That won’t be the right fit for everyone—but for those aligned with the values and mission of faith-based work, this is a meaningful role with real scope and purpose.
Who they are looking for
- A safety and security professional with at least four years of experience in humanitarian, INGO, military, or law enforcement settings
- Strong track record working in high-risk environments and fragile contexts
- Skilled in operational risk management, humanitarian access, and crisis response
- Capable of supporting field offices directly and building strong local capacity
- Experience writing security plans and supporting donor compliance
- Fluency in English is required; French, Swahili or Arabic is a plus
- A strong alignment with World Relief’s Christian identity is a requirement for employment
